Anyone at Siena, regardless of background, is welcome to join the Chemistry and Biochemistry Club. If you would like to be put on the email list for events, please e-mail us (SienaChemAndBiochem(at)gmail.com) with your name and email address. A major feature of our club is bringing hands-on science to local elementary students through National Chemistry Day and other volunteer opportunities in the community. We also participate in the meetings of local section of the American Chemical Society (ACS), allowing opportunities to network with chemists from other local colleges and universities and chemical industry
Our bonding lunches are held monthly during free period. All chemistry and biochemistry majors and anyone interested in finding out more about the chemistry and biochemistry department are encouraged to come. At bonding lunches, you'll have the chance to talk to the faculty and students who make up our department, plus there's free pizza! The first bonding lunch for the fall semester will be announced after classes begin.
National Chemistry Day
Each year to celebrate National Chemistry Day, the local ACS Chapter sponsors an event at the New York State Museum in Albany, NY. Chem Club does a wide variety of hands-on experiments for kids, including making slime, invisible ink drawings, fun with dry ice, including making ice cream! Our table is always a big hit with the kids and their parents. Come see us at the museum or contact us to volunteer to help. We have as much fun as the kids!
