    Research and Interests

My research focuses on synthesis and characterization of thin-film and membrane materials of metalloporphryins.
Recent research has focused upon using these films in the sensing of volatile organic compounds, especially those known to be environmentally hazardous. Of primary interest are richly colored metalloporphyrin-based thin films that, upon exposure to an analyte, experience a perturbation of the electronics of the porphyrin molecule and therefore the whole membrane, resulting in a color change of the material.
